You have to miss a workout and you're panicked! Here comes the fear of losing everything you've worked so hard for. You're going to gain weight - yikes!
I've seen so many people in this situation. Mostly women in their forties, working out everyday, sometimes even twice a day, or two classes back to back, running, running, running, afraid to miss a day. Even afraid to rest, thinking that in 24 hours they'll turn to mushy, deflated balloons.
And yet rest and recovery are so important to making the same gains that you're pursuing. If you workout hard one day, please take it easier on the following day so your body can re-build and repair. Getting stronger and leaner is what you want isn't it? You can't keep breaking your muscle down down day after day with boot camp, HIIT, BodyPump, whatever, and expect to see results. Maybe go for a walk or take a yoga class from time to time. That's called active recovery and is an important part of achieving gains!
And what if there was something you could do? Something which would impact your body 4 times more than exercise? Would you do it? Let's be honest. How many of you are using exercise to counter the effects of a less than ideal diet or too many glasses of wine? What if you made a few small changes to your eating habits which would give you more energy, improved brain power and a harder body? What if it was even just one change?
Do you have a plan or are you just "winging it?"
It sure would be great to feel at ease if you have to miss a workout or two due to circumstances, illness or injury. How sweet it would be to know that you're still burning fat and preserving lean muscle by following a few "new rules" of eating.
